York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge 2023
Raised so far
The York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge has been held annually since 2003. Over the past 20+ years the cumulative amount raised for a whole host of local charities is c. £1.4million.
On July 9th 2023, 36 teams will be battling it out on the River Ouse between Scarborough Bridge and Lendal Bridge for the Challenge Trophy and other prestigious awards including awards for the fastest Charity Team, fastest Civilian Team and of course the Best Dressed Team Trophy.
All donations raised by Teams are initially channelled through our Rotary Club Charity Fund.
2/3 of the money raised by a team (together with gift aid we receive from HMRC where applicable) goes to their chosen charity, and 1/3 goes to charities chosen by York Rotary, which this year are Big Futures Foundation and KYRA Women’s Charity, two wonderful charities both based in York.
As well as raising loads of money for the charities, this is a fantastic fun day on the river, a memorable day for all.
